3 TIPS FOR WINTER SKIN
Living in colder climates, we are no stranger to the rapid dip in temperatures that transition us from hot balmy weather to frigid temperatures seemingly overnight (and sometimes literally overnight). So how do we prepare our skin for the colder temperatures of winter? Here are a few tips that should take your skin from drab and dry to soft and supple all year round.
1. Get familiar with the ingredient, Hyaluronic Acid
If you haven't even heard of Hyaluronic Acid, you will definitely want to get to know this ingredient especially when you know the moisture boosting benefits of it. Over time, the skin's moisture levels can quite drastically be reduced. Hyaluronic Acid aids in increasing moisture to the skin as it has the incredible ability to hold up to 1000 times of weight in water. What's even better about Hyaluronic Acid is its ability to be used topically and actually permeate the skin so that your skin actually gets the benefits!
2. Add a Serum
Serums are great at providing essential moisture to the skin! The way in which serums are able to deliver a deep level of hydration is because of the things that they are formulated without. Serums are formulated without Oils, or petrolatum which can lock in moisture but usually are so thick in nature that they don't get into the skin and rather sit on top of it. Serums on the other hand are mostly water based and are formulated specifically to permeate the skin to deeply penetrate and deliver a surge of hydration.
Facial oils are a great way to lock moisture into your skin and protect it from the harsh elements of the weather. As opposed to serums that deeply penetrate into the skin, oils tend to hang out more towards the surface. Oils will trap water and moisture into your skin which means that all of that moisture goodness you've done in tip 1 and 2 will be locked in. Some oils will even help to strengthen your skin’s natural barrier and keep toxins out of your skin!
So this winter, don't fall out with your skin, rather pamper and moisturize it so that your transition into colder temperatures will be one that you and your skin can both love.
